Everybody loves a critter
The students have chosen an animal in which they will look up its natural history. They were given an example of a critter
who's natural history was all done up so that they will know what kind of information they are looking for in order to complete
the assignment. They are to find the information and display it in a way that most interests them. For example, if they chose to make
a website about their critter, that would be great. Posters have done as have powerpoint presentations. They may choose to
present in front of the class as well. The choice is up to them. They are expected to do the research at home because time in class is so limited. They must also build a diorama that represents the environment where the critter is found. They may use any kind of material they wish to do so but I recommend that they lean towards using natural materials found outside. This project will show me how the kids work and how they organize their time. Imagination and creativity are always supported and encouraged in my classroom. The due date is the week of the 18th of September.

What is expected for the project?
1. Diorama - you are to build (can use computer as well) the habitat for your critter using whatever resources that you have
at your disposal. Using all natural materials is great. If you wish to score the highest mark possible, it is all about the details
that will be included. (ie showing the different seasons, painting the background or having a depiction of the background...
2. Natural History - This means the info about your critter. You were all given a pamphlet that contains all of the major headings
that you will need to have for your project. It is your template. I will be looking for you to have all of that information
covered in your project plus other interesting facts that you might find out about your critter. How you display your
information will have a large effect on the assessment. Use your imagination and have fun with it. I will be looking at
your originality, completeness of info, spelling, grammar and the flow.
3. Assessment - Together in class we will develop a rubric for both sections that you can follow. When we are done, you will
be given copies of the rubrics that you can follow.
Due date is the week of the 11th of February. Any day is great !
