Surface area and volume
This section deals with surface area and volume. The students will be doing a project that will cover
this section in its entirety. The project is build or draw a structure that must incorporate the various
structures that have been discussed in the classroom. (squares, cubes, circles, cylinders, rectangles,
rectangular prisms, triangles, triangular prisms, cones, pyramids and spheres) They were given formula
sheets for surface area and volume for all of the aforementioned structures. On their project, they must
indicate all of the dimensions and use this numbers to calculate the surface area and volume of the structure.
They will have some time in class to complete the assignment or get help with their calculations. The
project is due the last week of April.
